Andre Lindsay Earns First Collegiate Shutout In Scoreless Draw With Bloomfield

Post Extends Conference Unbeaten Streak To Six; Undefeated At Home Grows To 14 Matches

WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University men's soccer goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica), a sophomore, earned his first collegiate shutout after the squad played to a 0-0 double overtime draw with Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Bloomfield on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field. With the tie, Post extended its conference unbeaten streak to six matches, while it has not lost a home game in its last 14 outings.
 
Lindsay made four saves for Post (5-2-3, 3-0-3 CACC) including one in the second overtime period to keep Bloomfield off the scoreboard. In the 107th minute, Diego Mayanga put a shot on frame for the Deacons that was held off by Lindsay.
 
The Eagles got a quality chance in the 15th minute of the match when sophomore Gustavo Ferreira (Betim, Brazil) blasted a shot into the upper half of the goal. The shot was turned away by Bloomfield (5-3-1, 3-1-1 CACC) keeper Kieran Moran. Moran made five saves for the Deacons.
 
For the match, Post held a 15-13 edge in shots and a 5-4 margin in shots on goal. The Eagles attempted seven corner kicks, including three in the first overtime. Two of the chances came 23 seconds apart off the foot of junior Kevin Ipina (Danbury, Conn.).
 
Entering the contest, both squads were ranked in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II East Region poll on Tuesday. Post was tabbed seventh, while Bloomfield was ninth.
 
The Eagles will continue their longest homestand of the season, a four-game stretch on Saturday, Oct. 6, when it hosts Goldey-Beacom in a conference tilt. The opening touch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at LaMoy Field. Admission to all Post soccer matches is free and open to the public.
