Post Knocks Off Caldwell 2-1; Remains Unbeaten In CACC Play

Eagles Conclude Four-Game Homestand With 3-0-1 Record

WATERBURY, Conn. – For the second consecutive match, the Post University men's soccer team used a 1-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes to earn a 2-1 victory over Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at LaMoy Field on Wednesday. With the win, the Eagles remain unbeaten in conference play this season at 5-0-3, are unbeaten in the last 17 home contests and earned their fourth straight triumph over the Cougars.
 
Senior Francis Eno (Powder Springs, Ga.) and freshman Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) each tallied their fourth goal of the season. Sophomore goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) turned in his fourth win of the season, which ties for the team lead. He made three saves in the second half.
                                                                                           
In the eighth minute of the match Post (8-2-3, 5-0-3 CACC) got on the board. The Eagles had possession at midfield when senior Korab Muaremi (Middlebury, Conn.) played a ball into the box to junior Ani Lekaj (Sherman, Conn.). Lekaj flicked a pass in front of the net that Eno blasted past Caldwell goalkeeper Michael Hartmann. Post maintained the 1-0 lead through halftime as the defense held the Caldwell (4-6-1, 3-3 CACC) without a shot on goal in the stanza.
 
Post held the 1-0 lead until the final minute of play when junior Jon Dzurilla (Torrington, Conn.) and Moura played a two-on-one from midfield. Moura finished the play to give Post a 2-0 lead with 27 seconds remaining.
 
Caldwell's Facundo Zalazar converted a penalty kick with three seconds left to arrive at the 2-1 margin.
 
For the match, Post held a 14-11 advantage in shots and a 6-4 margin in shots on goal.
 
The Eagles will begin a four-match road trip on Saturday, Oct. 13, when it travels to Chestnut Hill for a conference match. The CACC contest will begin at 3 p.m.
