WATERBURY, Conn (April 7, 2011) Post University's baseball took a 4-2 home victory over Bridgeport Thursday afternoon in Waterbury.  James Wong and Sean Jarrett each had an RBI in the game, as Hayden Allred picked up his first win of the season.

In the bottom of the first, lead-off batter James Wong was hit and advanced to third on a Brendan Barry single to right field. With Aaron Lerma at the plate, Bridgeport pitcher Nick Vautrin throwing to catcher Mike Doran had a passed ball slip through scoring Wong giving Post a 1-0 edge.

The Purple Knights evened the score in the top of the sixth, but the Eagles responded quickly in the bottom of the inning. Russ Sirko hit a double as Kyle Lagasse came in to pinch run. Sean Jarrett then blasted a double down the left field line, scoring Lagasse putting the Eagles up 2-1.

Bridgeport would again tie the game in the eighth inning making it 2-2.

In the bottom of the inning Jared Maddox was hit by a pitch, but was thrown out at third when Travis Locascio reached on a fielder's choice. On the hit and run, Kevin Fearon struck out advancing Locascio into scoring position with one away.

Ian Toro then blasted a hit to third, but third baseman Matt Nassi committed an error on the throw putting Toro on first and moving Locascio to third. That setup James Wong for an RBI single to center bringing in Locascio.

Toro would score and Wong moved to third when catcher Mike DeLellis had an error on a failed pick-off attempt with Wong at first giving the Eagles a 4-2 lead.

Eagle pitcher Hayden Allred went 1.1 innings with three strikeouts to get the win. Starting pitcher John Jeanes went 7.2 innings with six strikeouts.

Post University will return to competition on Saturday for a home conference double header against Felician.
