WATERBURY, Conn. (April 6, 2011)---Post University baseball is flying high after a 4-2 win over Caldwell College on Wednesday evening.

Tom Sirois went six innings and gave up just one earned run to claim the victory for the Eagles (13-7, 4-1 CACC), who have gotten off to a hot start in conference play and are coming off an 11-5 pounding of league-leading Wilmington University.

Aaron Lerma got things started for Post University, blasting a solo home run to left center to give the Eagles a 1-0 second inning lead. Lerma finished 2-for-3.

The Eagles struck again in the eighth, when third baseman Brendan Barry ripped a single to left field, scoring speedy centerfielder Jared Maddox.

Second baseman James Wong went deep in the top of the ninth to secure the 4-2 victory.

The Eagles pounded out 10 hits as a team, and the pitching staff held Caldwell to just four hits and three walks.

Dan Steers pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save.

The two teams were scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the second game was cancelled due to rain.

Post University returns to action tomorrow, when they face the University of Bridgeport at Municipal Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
