WATERBURY, Conn. (April 27, 2011) Post University's baseball team nearly knocked off the 5th ranked team in the East region, but fell just one run short against UMass-Lowell Wednesday. The Eagles were led by
James Wong who hit a three run homerun in the second inning.
Wong's blast to left field also scored Kevin Fearon who had an RBI double and Jared Maddox who got on base with an error. Later on Brendan Barry reached on an error and would score on a Travis Locascio single giving the Eagles a 5-1 lead at the end of the inning.
In the top of the third, Russ Sirko led-off with a single and scored on a Maddox double to make it 6-1.
UMass would score one run in the third, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings before heading into the bottom of the ninth down 6-5.
After a two out single from Burns, Kneeland homered to win the game for the Riverhawks 7-6.
The Eagles will return to competition on Saturday April 30 at Chestnut Hill.
