PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 25, 2011) Post University's baseball team split a double header against USciences Monday afternoon in Philadelphia. The Devils took game one 7-3, but the Eagles rallied in the second game to a 5-0 victory.
The Devils got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first scoring one run. In the top of the third,
James Wong walked,
Brendan Barry singled, and
Aaron Lerma reached on an error to load the bases.
Travis Locascio picked up an RBI on the fielder's choice as Lerma was called out at second scoring Wong. Moments later, Dieguez singled with an RBI to give Post a 2-1 edge.
USciences tied the game in the fourth, but the Eagles retook the lead in the seventh when Locascio hit a lead-off solo homerun.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Devils scored five runs to seal a 7-3 win.
In game two, the Eagles took a 5-0 victory and it started in the sixth inning with a lead-off double from
Brendan Barry who scored on another Locascio RBI.
With a 1-0 lead heading into the seventh,
Todd Blair walked and scored with a RBI double from Wong. Wong moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Lerma singled to right. Barry scored the last run of the inning by taking advantage of a walk and a throwing error by Devil shortstop Davis.
Barry scored the last run in the game in the ninth inning after lead-off double down the left field line. Lerma grounded out advancing Barry. Locascio reached on an error with Barry scoring another unearned run en route to a 5-0 victory.
Dan Steers got the shutout win with three strikeouts through 9.0 innings.
The Eagles will return to competition on Wednesday at UMass-Lowell.
