Eagle Softball Splits Dominican in Conference Dual

WATERBURY, Conn (April 20, 2011) Post University's softball team split a pair of games at Dominican College Wednesday afternoon wining game one 4-3, before falling 10-2 in game two.

In game one the Eagles put up all of their runs in the top of the second. Lead-off batter Christina Udris reached on an error, followed by two consecutive singles from Stephanie DeMartino and Cassidie Ern to load the bases. Udris was thrown out at the plate for the first out on a Kim Bentson's fielder's choice.

With two out and the bases still loaded, Sam Pagano blasted a 3 RBI double clearing the bases of everyone but her and putting the Eagles up 3-0. Brandi Davis then singled to right scoring Pagano's game winning run en route to the 4-3 win. Ashley Cummings was credited with her 13th win of the season.

In game two the CACC No. 3 Chargers went on the offensive. Like the Eagles in game one, it was a big scoring effort with seven runs in the third inning for Dominican.

Post University scored their run in the top of the fourth when Amy Mantha led-off with a single up the middle. With two out Ern reached on an error to extend the inning setting up Bentson for an RBI single scoring Mantha. Dominican would hold on for the win though with a 10-1 final.

The Eagles will return to competition at home on Thursday April 21 against Georgian Court. Game time is set for 2:30pm and the day will feature the team's Strikeout Cancer event to raise awareness for breast cancer.
