WATERBURY, Conn. (April 18, 2011)--- The Post University baseball team split a doubleheader with Bloomfield College on Monday night, storming back for an 8-2 victory in game two after dropping the first game, 5-1.
Post University (19-11, 9-5 CACC) opened up a 5-1 lead in game two after a two-run single by catcher Russell Sirko.
The Eagles took advantage of three Bloomfield errors in the inning, as James Wong, Ralph Dieguez, Travis Locascio, Sirko, and Felix Osoria all came around to score.
Left fielder Aaron Lerma knocked in two more runs fon a bases-clearing single in the bottom of the sixth to add to the Eagles lead. Alex Jahn and Kevin Fearon scored on the two out shot from Lerma.
The team also recieved a terrific performance on the mound from Hayden Allred, who went seven innings and gave just one earned run. Allred had great command of the strike zone all night, striking out eight Deacons and walking just one.
Bloomfield (10-22, 6-8) took game one on the strength of an excellent pitching performance by Chris Stimpfel, who hurled seven scoreless innings to earn the win.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Orangeburg, N.Y. to take on Dominican College in a CACC doubleheader.
