WATERBURY, Conn (April 14, 2011) Despite one last attempt in the bottom of the ninth inning, Post University fell to Concordia College 5-4 at Municipal Stadium Thursday night. The Eagles are now 15-9 on the season and 5-4 in the CACC.
Travis Locascio led the Eagles going 4-5 with 2 RBIs. Starting pitcher Tom Sirois went 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts in the loss.
Concordia jumped on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning, but the Eagles would counter in the bottom of the inning. With one away, both Brendan Barry and Aaron Lerma singled to left field setting up Locascio to hit the RBI single to make it 2-1.
The Eagles took the lead in the bottom of the third when with two outs, Locascio got on base with a single. Ralph Dieguez then blasted an RBI double to center scoring the run. Dieguez would score on a Russ Sirko single to right giving the Eagles a 3-2 edge.
Concordia scored two more runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to retake the lead making it 5-3 Clippers.
James Wong led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a single and scored on Locascio's second RBI, this time it was a triple to left centerfield. It would be the only run to score that inning as the Eagles fell 5-4 at home.
Post University will return to competition on Friday to take on Concordia at 6:30pm at Municipal Stadium.
