CLEARMONT, FL (March 6, 2011) Post University's softball team fell to Grand Valley State 8-0 and West Virginia Wesleyan 14-1 Sunday afternoon in Clearmont, FL. The Eagles are now 0-4 this season and have been playing against top competition in Division II.
Game one was against Grand Valley State as Ashley Cummings went 3.1 innings with two strikeouts against 20 batters.
Cassidie Ern was 1-2 after a lead-off single to short, but it would be the only hit of the game for the Eagles.
Grand Valley mustered 11 hits en route to their 8-0 victory although the Eagles did not commit a single error in the game. Kayleigh Bertram hit 3-3 including 2 runs and one RBI. Emily Jones was 2-2, with one run and one RBI.
In game two, it was Johanna Rice who pitched four innings with one strikeout.
The Eagles would get on the scoreboard in the fifth inning after Christina Udris got on after being hit by a pitch. Stephanie DeMartino singled to left field moving Udris to second. Christina Marino hit a sacrifice bunt putting both runners in scoring position setting up Lianna May for a sacrifice RBI scoring Udris.
The Eagles would fall in game two 14-1 as Hillary Perez-Ashley got the win on six strikeouts for West Virginia Wesleyan.
Post University will take on Lock Haven and St. Rose on Tuesday.
