WATERBURY, Conn (March 4, 2011)--Johanna Rice gave up just one earned run in six full innings against the University of Mary, but the Eagles fell, 2-0 in Clearmont, Fla., on Saturday.

Rice struck out three and scattered eight hits, keeping the University of Mary hitters off balance for most of the day.

But Rice just couldn't figure out University of Mary catcher Desiree Smith, who drove in both runs and went 3-for-3.

Smith deposited an RBI single to right field in the first inning, and laced an RBI double to right in the fifth.


Rachel Davis went 6.1 innings for the University of Mary, allowing just three Eagles hits.

Amy Mantha, Brandi Davis, and Jackie Bonamassa had the hits for Post University (0-2, 0-0 CACC).

The Eagles return to action tommorrow, when they take on Grand Valley State and West Virginia Wesleyan College in a pair of afternoon games.
