Tom Sirois threw a complete game, giving up just two earned runs, but Dowling College held off a late rally to upend Post University, 3-2, on Friday afternoon in New York.
The Eagles trailed, 3-1, heading into the ninth inning but refused to go down quietly, loading the bases with two outs.
Senior centerfielder
Alex Jahn would score on a Dowling wild pitch, but the Eagles couldn't draw closer.
Dowling (3-8) was led by centerfielder Brain Ferguson, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Senior
Brendan Barry went 2-for-5 with an RBI single in the fifth inning.
Junior Marc Rutledge got the win for Dowling, going five innings and allowing just one run.
Sirois was outstanding for the Eagles (8-3), scattering eight hits and striking out five.
Post University returns to action tomorrow, when they play a doubleheadder against Nyack College in New York.
