MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (February 26, 2011)---Junior pitcher Steven Corbett threw a complete game shut-out in his first-ever start as the Post University Eagles Baseball squad raised its record to 2-1 with a 6-0 win over 2010 Northeast-10 champion Stonehill College, currently ranked #3 in the Northeast regional poll.
Corbett was extremely efficient, giving up just 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking just 2.
The Eagles would open the scoring in the 1st when junior
James Wong and senior
Alex Jahn led off the game with walks. After a ground-out by moving both runners over, senior
Ralph Dieguez ripped a 2-RBI single for the early 2-0 lead.
The Eagles would add 3 more runs in the following inning when Jared Maddox, Wong and Jahn would all walk with 2 outs.
Sophomore Todd Blair then deposited a base hit single up the middle scoring two. Dieguez would follow with another run-scoring single to make the score 5-0.
From there, Corbett would dominate as he recorded his first career win in just his first collegiate start.
The Eagles would tack on one more run in the 9th when Jahn would lead off getting hit by a pitch and would later come around to score on a single by junior Travis Locascio.
Dieguez continued his torrid start going 3-5 with 3 RBI's while Blair finished 2-4 with walk and 2 RBI's. Jahn got on base four times, scoring three runs.
