Men’s Soccer Advances to CACC Championship with 4-2 Victory

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 3, 2011) Post University's men's soccer team is headed to the 2011 CACC Championship after defeating Holy Family 4-2 in the semi final. Hylton Davis scored two goals on penalty kicks in the victory. Post will play Nyack for the Championship.

“The guys came out and tactically they did a phenomenal job of sticking to the game plan and we kept the ball better than we did in the opening round,” said Ted Haley, Eagles Head Coach. “It was unfortunate not to have a clean sheet because tactically we were very good. We stuck to our game plan led the whole and played well. We felt like we deserved to move on and it was a good showing by the guys.”

Post went up 1-0 on a goal from Ani Lekaj from Korab Muaremi on a corner kick at 4:25. The Eagles came out of the box strong and controlled play throughout the half.

The second goal came when the Holy Family keeper came out; Post won the ball skipped a back pass to Joe Baccileo. Baccielo sent a shot in that was poked away with a defender's hand setting up the penalty kick. Davis scored on the opportunity to make it 2-0 just 11:57 into the match.

Towards the end of the first the Tigers kicked a long ball down field to Seydou Ba who was in the box drawing a penalty kick that they scored on to make it 2-1.

Post went up 3-1 at 39:24 when Baccielo beat a defender on the left and fired it in. The ball went off the post for the score. The Eagles took that lead into the half.

Francis Eno scored his seventh of the season by beating a collection of defenders before he was taken down in the box. Davis finished it off with the penalty kick making it 4-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining.

The Eagles made a defensive mistake in the backfield and Ba took it down the field to score making the final 4-2.   

The Eagles who are ranked 6th in the East region will square off against No. 7 Nyack in the championship will be played at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Game time is set for noon on Saturday, November 5.
