WILMINGTON, DE (May 8, 2010) Post University's baseball team lost to Dominican College 6-4 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship game on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles defeated Dominican 1-0 in the opening game of the day, forcing a rubber match between the two teams.

In the title game it was scoreless after three innings. In the top of the fourth, Alex Jahn hit a two RBI triple to center field that scored Ralph Dieguez and Travis Locascio to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage.

Dominican would not respond until the bottom of the fifth when Tommy Maloney singled to center scoring Xavier Bonilla who got on base with a single of his own. Then Marco Moreno doubled scoring two runs in Sean Burke and Maloney. The fourth run of the inning scored when Dan Robinson singled to shortstop Todd Blair brining in Moreno putting the Chargers up 4-2.

In the top of the seventh, Russ Sirko walked and was replaced by pinch runner Jared Maddox. Maddox scored the Eagles only run of the inning off a Brendan Barry single to center field closing Post University to within one run.

Dominican responded with two more runs in the bottom of the inning to extend their lead to 6-3. The eventual winning run was scored by Moreno on a Robinson sacrifice fly. Tony Blake scored as well after Robert Iglesias singled up the middle.

In the top of the eighth, Locascio was hit by a pitch, while Dieguez, Jahn, and Reyes all walked scoring Locascio to make it 6-4. With one final attempt to overcome the Chargers in the top of the ninth the Eagles went 1-2-3 when Barry popped up to second, Tyler Wilschetz struck out, and Locascio flied out to left field.

The game would conclude with a 6-4 final score ending Post University's miraculous run as a No. 5 seed. In the tournament the Eagles beat top ranked Wilmington twice and nearly took the championship game against Dominican.

Before the championship game could be played, Post University had to defeat Dominican in game one a double header that was played at 11am. The CACC rules require a double elimination format and until Saturday Dominican had not lost a game. The earlier game went in favor of the Eagles by a 1-0 score in nail biter that saw the only run scored in the top of the ninth.

Jahn got on base with a throwing error by Dominican third baseman Willie Mann. Jahn would score after Reyes singled to right field. Dominican was unable to score in the bottom of the ninth as Tom Sirois pitched the entire game en route to a shutout victory giving Post University a chance to play for the championship.
