Caldwell Defeats Eagles in Opening Round of CACC Softball Tournament 8-0

LAKEWOOD, NJ (May 6, 2010) Post University's softball team lost their first game in the double elimination CACC Softball Tournament to Caldwell 8-0. The Eagles will play the loser of the Georgian Court versus Concordia game in the second round on Thursday afternoon.

Stephanie Carrillo was the starting pitcher for the Eagles to open post-season play. In the bottom of the first inning, Dia Cascone and Kyrie Timbrook both walked and advanced a base on a fielder's choice. The walks setup Marisa Tamez who hit a fielder's choice scoring Cascone for a 1-0 Cougar lead.

In the bottom of the second, Caldwell poured in five runs with Cascone getting the first RBI of the inning with a single to centerfield. With two out, Timbrook hit a grand slam over the center field fence giving Caldwell a 6-0 advantage and sending Carrillo to the bench after only 1.2 innings.

Caldwell scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with another homerun from Timbrook. This time is was a two run blast after Danielle Genovese doubled to get on base securing an 8-0 win.

The Eagles will play their second game of the 2010 CACC Softball Tournament Thursday afternoon.
