Softball Falls to Philadelphia in Home Doubleheader

WATERBURY, Conn (May 2, 2010) Post University's softball team fell to Philadelphia University in two games Sunday afternoon. The Rams took game one 6-2 in extra innings and game two 13-6.
In game one, Philadelphia scored first in the top of the inning making it 1-0. In the bottom of the inning, the Eagles responded when
Cassidie Ern doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Ern would score on a Sam Pagano sacrifice.
In the top of the third, the Rams scored again, but Post University evened the score when Ern was brought home by a Sam Canning RBI.
The game would go into extra innings tied at two. In the ninth, with the international tie breaking rule in effect, Danielle Parsi was put on second and score the first of four runs in the inning for a 6-2 final.
In game two, the Eagles jumped to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after
Tierney Marceau hit a double up the middle scoring Pagano. The Rams would not score until the top of the third inning and would tie the game at one a piece.
In the bottom of the third, Post University's
Amy Mantha singled up the left side to score Ern. Pagano scored on an
Emily Archer RBI and Mantha made the score 4-1 on an error by the second baseman.
In the fourth and fifth innings, the Rams put the Eagles down for good by scoring a combined eight runs and taking a 9-4 lead. Canning scored in the bottom of the 5th with the RBI going to
Lindsey Heiser. Philadelphia scored four runs in the top of the seventh as Mantha scored the final run of the game in the bottom of the inning for a 13-6 final.
