Softball Losses to Concordia 8-0 in Both Ends of Doubleheader

BRONXVILLE, NY (April 6, 2010) Post University's softball team lost a conference double header to Concordia Tuesday afternoon. Both games ended in a 8-0 score moving the Eagles to 7-5 in the CACC. Concordia improves to 4-3.
In game one, the Clippers put the Eagles down early scoring two runs in the opening inning. Maria DeMartino walked and scored on a Jamie Lorenzo homerun which would end up being the game winner.
In the 2nd, Concordia scored five total runs beginning with four consecutive singles scoring three runs alone. Another run would score when DeMartino grounded out, adding two more on an Alexa Rosella double making it 7-0 Concordia.
The Clippers would score the final run of the game in the bottom of the 5th when Victoria Pisciotta doubled and advanced to third on a sacrifice. She would score on an error by first baseman Tierney Marceau ending the game at 8-0 after only five innings.
In game two, Concordia spread the scoring out among six innings, but it did not stop them from scoring three in the bottom of the first. Lead-off batter Dena Frederick reached on an error by Emily Archer, which allowed Frederick to score the unearned run before the inning ended. Rosella and Angela D'Amico would account for the other two runs.
Concordia scored one more in the 2nd, but they had the opportunity to score twice more with both Nicole Spadero and Frederick thrown out at home. On Spadero's play at the plate, Eagle catcher Amy Mantha made an error allowing Kristina Patrocinio to score.
With a 4-0 lead, Concordia scored two runs in the 4th off a Rosella triple and added one run each in the 5th and 6th to win the game just short of the scheduled seven innings. This time it was Lorenzo who doubled and scored the winning run on a D'Amico single.
Post University softball will compete again on Thursday at Assumption for a non-conference contest.
