Three Marceau Homeruns Lift Eagles Past Nyack in Doubleheader

WATERBURY, Conn (April 5, 2010) Three homeruns in two games including a grand slam from Tierney Marceau led the Eagles in two conference wins over Nyack College Monday afternoon. Post University is now 7-3 in the CACC.

Marceau's grand slam came in the 3rd inning of a scoreless game one. After Sam Pagano singled, Lindsey Heiser walked, and Amy Mantha reached on a fielder's choice, Marceau the number five batter put the Eagles up 4-0. Emily Archer would also score on an error made by Nyack's catcher Lauren Campbell before the inning ended.

Post University's Kim Bentson hit a solo homerun in the 5th to put the Eagles up 5-0. 

In the 6th inning, relief pitcher Ashley Cummings walked and Mantha singled. Marceau singled scoring Cummings and then Archer singled bringing in Mantha giving Post University an 8-0 victory in game one.
In game two, Stephanie Carrillo took to the mound and the Eagles attacked early scoring all seven runs in the first two innings. 

In the bottom of the 1st, Cassidie Ern reached on an error and moved to third on a Pagano single. Mantha would hit a two RBI double making it 2-0. Marceau then came to bat for her second homerun of the afternoon to make the game 4-0 Post University.

With the bases cleared once again, Bentson singled and scored on a Lianna May single to make it 5-0.
In the 2nd, history repeated itself when Mantha doubled and Marceau picked up another homerun earning a 7-0 win for the Eagles. Marceau would have nine RBIs in two games.

Post University's Softball team will be back in competition on Tuesday at Concordia for a rescheduled contest.
