Post University's Golf Team Readies for NCAA Regional Tournament
WATERBURY, Conn (April 30, 2010) For the sixth consecutive season, Post University's golf team will compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament with a chance to compete for the national title.
"We have some momentum going into the tournament, but I we know we will have to have our 'A' game in order to advance to the National Championship tournament,” said Pete Stevens, Eagles Head Coach. “We beat the number one seed in our region, but we still have a difficult task ahead of us. Everyone must pull their weight."
The 54 hole tournament will be once again held at the Glade Springs Resort in Daniels, West Virginia. Under the current format the top ten teams from the Atlantic and East Regions will compete for only five positions in order to advance to the NCAA National Tournament in Indiana.
In addition to the top five teams, the two highest placing individuals whose team did not qualify will also compete on the national stage. Last season after struggling in the first round, Post University placed eighth on the 7,084 yard par-72 course. This season the Eagles are ranked third in the East Region behind Wilmington and American International.
A practice round is scheduled for Sunday May 2nd. The tournament will be played beginning May 3rd and ending on May 5th.
