Georgian Court Sneaks by Eagles in Softball Double Header

LAKEWOOD, NJ (April 3, 2010) Post University's Softball team lost two games by one run each to Georgian Court Saturday afternoon. The Lions won game one 1-0, and game two by a 6-5 final. The Eagles are now 5-3 in conference action this season.
In game one, Georgian Court took a slim 1-0 victory over the Eagles. Lindsey Heiser pitched the entire game for Post University. The winning run was scored in the bottom of the 9th inning when with one out, Jen Tartaglia scored on a Donnie Brossoie single to left center ending the game.
In game two, it was Stephanie Carrillo on the mound for the entire game with three strikeouts. The Eagles had five hits in the opening inning resulting in two runs. Pagano walked to lead-off and then stole second. When Heiser doubled, Pagano scored. Heiser advanced on a Sam Canning single and scored when Tierney Marceau singled making it 2-0.
The Lions responded in the bottom of the inning scoring one of their own and took the lead in the 2nd with two runs. The score remained 2-1 until the bottom of the 4th when Georgian Court scored one more.
In the top of the 6th Post University tallied one more run. Emily Archer singled to right center field and moved to third on a Kim Bentson double. Archer would score when Johana Rice hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield making it 4-3 Lions.
In the bottom of the inning the Lions would score one more, but the Eagles battled back after a pitching change when Heiser and Amy Mantha both walked. Canning grounded out to the pitcher advancing the runners who scored when Marceau singled to left field. Georgian Court remained scoreless in the bottom of the inning sending the game to extra innings once again.
The Eagles were silenced in the top of the inning even though with two outs Pagano and Heiser were able to get on base with a hit and hit by pitch respectively. In the bottom of the 8th, Tartaglia hit a walk-off homerun with one out to win the game 6-5.
Post University hosts Nyack on Monday for their next conference contest.
