Dominican Drops Eagles 5-3

WATERBURY, Conn (April 29, 2010) Post University's baseball team lost a conference game to Dominican at Municipal Stadium on Thursday night 5-3. The loss drops the Eagles to 19-19 overall and 10-8 in the CACC.

Dominican scored first in the top of the first inning after Sean Burke singled and stole second and third. Burke scored on a Dan Robinson double making it 1-0 Chargers. 

In the bottom of the inning, Brendan Barry hit an RBI single to score Todd Blair tying the game at one. 

In the bottom of the second, Ralph Dieguez walked to get on base and scored when Jose Reyes hit a fielder's choice giving the Eagles a 2-1 edge. In the third, Post University would score one more when Travis Locascio singled to lead off the inning. Locascio would score on an error by the right fielder after Dieguez hit a dropped fly ball.

Dominican mustered three hits in the seventh inning to close within one run of the Eagles in a 3-2 game.  In the bottom of the inning, the Eagles stranded three runners on base after Barry popped up to second base and Tyler Wilschetz struck out.  

In the top of the eighth, Dominican's Tommy Malone scored on a Tony Blake sacrifice RBI to center field to tie the game at three apiece. 

In the ninth inning with Richie Pierro took the mound and with two out, Tom Maloney hit an RBI double to score the winning run. Pierro would walk in the fifth run putting the Eagles down 5-3 going into the bottom of the inning, where they would not score for a 5-3 final. 

Post University will conclude the regular in conference games on Saturday against Chestnut Hill. The first pitch is schedule for 12pm.
