Caldwell Defeats Eagles in Softball Doubleheader

CALDWELL, NJ (April 20, 2010) Post University's Softball team lost in a doubleheader against Caldwell College on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles were shutout in the first game by an 8-0 score, while the score in game two was 4-2.

In game one, Caldwell scored eight runs in four innings shortening the scheduled seven inning contest. Four hits in the first inning along with two errors in the second resulted in five runs through two. The Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth off two hits and two errors en route to the 8-0 victory.

In game two trailing by one run in the third inning, Post University's Cassidie Ern hit a solo homerun over the left field fence to tie the game. Samantha Pagano then singled to third base and advanced to second on an Amy Mantha single. Tierney Marceau would hit an RBI single scoring Pagano making it 2-1 Eagles. 

Caldwell responded in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two. After a scoreless fourth inning, the Cougars scored two runs in the fifth inning to complete the sweep with a 4-2 final score. 

Post University will be back in action on Thursday as they host Dominican beginning at 1pm.
