Eagles Baseball Splits Pair with Concordia

BRONXVILLE, NY (April 2, 2010) Post University's Baseball team split a double header on Friday afternoon against Concordia. The games now move the Eagles to 12-10 overall and 4-2 in the CACC.

In game one, it was the Clippers earning a 6-5 win. Tim McCarthy pitched 8.2 innings for the Eagles with eight strikeouts. To open the game Jose Reyes singled and scored on a Travis Locascio sacrifice fly to right field making it 1-0 after the first.

In the top of the second, Sean Jarrett walked with two outs and scored when Todd Blair doubled to centerfield. 

With a 2-0 lead, the scoring continued for the Eagles in the 4th. This time Brendan Barry walked and scored on a double from Jarrett. When Reyes reached on an error, Todd Blair who singled to get on base scored making it 4-0. Jarrett would also score an unearned run before the inning ended. 

Post University held the 5-0 lead until the bottom of the 9th inning, but Concordia was able to muster seven hits scoring six runs to win game one 6-5. 

In game two, Post University took a 4-1 victory with help from pitcher Dan Steers who went eight innings gathering 10 strike outs. 

The game remained scoreless until the 4th when Reyes doubled to lead-off the inning and scored when Locascio singled making it 1-0. Concordia would tie the game at one in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the 6th, Dan Luisi hit a single through the gap and advanced to second on a balk. Once again it was Locascio who came to the rescue with a single to right field scoring Luisi for a 2-1 lead.

The Eagles would seal the win in the 9th when Barry doubled to lead-off and moved to third on a passed ball. Then Russ Sirko and Jarrett walked loading the bases with no outs. Blair hit a sacrifice to centerfield scoring Barry and Luisi singled to right scoring Sirko. Post University would keep the Clippers scoreless in the bottom of the inning for a 4-1 win.

The Eagles will return to competition at Wilmington on Saturday.
