Softball Losses Two at Holy Family

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 18, 2010) Post University softball lost a pair of games at Holy Family Sunday afternoon. The Eagles are now 10-8 in conference play.
In game one, Holy Family was the victor winning 9-3. With two runners on and two out,
Tierney Marceau hit an RBI single in the top of the first scoring
Amy Mantha making it 1-0. The Tigers responded in the bottom of the inning to assume a 2-1 lead.
In the top of the second,
Kim Bentson singled to right center field and
Samantha Canning doubled putting both runners in scoring position. Lianna may singled to score Bentson while
Cassidie Ern hit a sacrifice to bring in Canning. The Eagles now had a 3-2 lead, but in the bottom of the third Holy Family would score three runs on their way to a 9-3 win.
In game two, it was Holy Family once again this time winning the game 7-4. The Eagles scored in the top of the first inning with a Marceau RBI single. The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the inning making it 1-1.
In the next two innings, the Tigers scored six runs. However in the top of the fourth, Post University would score two more. Mantha singled and moved to scoring position on a passed ball. Archer hit a single to bring in Mantha. Marceau, who singled to get on base, scored with a doubled from pitcher
Stephanie Carrillo, but the Eagles still trailed 7-3.
The final run of the game was scored in the fifth inning by Ern who doubled and made it home on a Mantha sacrifice. Holy Family would hold on for the 7-4 win.
The Eagles will play again on Tuesday at Caldwell.
