Baseball Takes Two at Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA (April 17, 2010) Post University's baseball team won two conference games in a double header on Saturday afternoon against Philadelphia. The Eagles took game one 6-2, while the score in game two was 3-1.

 Tim McCarthy pitched the entire first game to get the win. The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning with one out when both Jose Reyes and Todd Blair tripled to right field. Dan Luisi hit an RBI single to centerfield giving the Eagles a 2-0 advantage.

The next run came in the top of the fifth after Travis Locascio singled to right field scoring Luisi who got on base will a single. 

Philadelphia's two runs came in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh Reyes and Blair both reached on an error, while Luisi was intentionally walked. Brendan Barry got on base with a fielder's choice scoring Reyes. Locascio hit RBI single to bring in Blair for a 5-2 lead.

The Eagles last run came in the top of the ninth after Luisi doubled and scored on a Tyler Wilschetz single allowing the Post University  to take game one 6-2.

In the second game, Dan Steers started the game and pitched for eight innings with eight strikeouts.
All of Post University's runs came in the top of the fourth starting with lead-off batter Barry who doubled and moved to third on a Locascio single. Barry scored on a Ralph Dieguez RBI then Alex Jahn came to the plate and hit a double bringing in Wilschetz. Russ Sirko hit a sacrifice to right field scoring Dieguez making it 3-0.

Philadelphia scored their only run in bottom of the ninth settling the score at 3-1.

Post University will play again on Tuesday at home against New Haven.
