BLOOMFIELD, NJ (April 15, 2010) Post University's softball team split a pair of contests at Bloomfield Thursday afternoon. Game one went to the Deacons with a 5-4 score, while the Eagles took game two 6-1.

In game one, Lindsey Heiser pitched the entire game and the Eagles were able to score early. Cassidie Ern doubled to lead-off the inning and scored on a Samantha Canning RBI making it 1-0. The score remained that way until the third inning when Amy Mantha hit a solo homerun.

Heading into the seventh inning Post University still led the game 2-0. With two outs, Mantha doubled and scored on a Canning RBI single. When Kim Bentson came to bat, she doubled scoring Canning giving the Eagles a 4-0 advantage.

Bloomfield scored four runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings. Post University would not score in the top of the eighth, but Bloomfield would score one more in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-4 win.

In the second game, it was scoreless until the top of the third when Samantha Pagano scored an unearned run. The Deacons would quickly counter that run to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
In the fifth inning, Tierney Marceau hit a two run homerun making the score 3-1 Eagles.

After a pitching change Lianna May, Ern, and Pagano singled. Pagano's hit scored May, while Ern reached home on a Mantha sacrifice. Pagano would score the final run of the game when Canning got on base with an error.

Post University will be back in action again on Saturday at home against Philadelphia.
