Post University Baseball Falls Short to Southern 4-3

WATERBURY, Conn (April 15, 2010) In a non-conference game between two Connecticut colleges, Southern Connecticut defeated the Eagles 4-3 at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury Thursday afternoon. Post University is now 14-18 on the season.
Michael Wolfe pitched the entire game for the Eagles in a contest that was scoreless through the first three innings. In the top of the fourth, lead-off batter Kyle Rosadino doubled and scored on a Nick DeProspo RBI single. When Ryan Geffert doubled DeProspo scored giving the Owls a 2-0 edge.
The Owls would score again in the fifth inning after designated hitter Eric Schlitter hit a lead-off homerun. Post University responded in the sixth by scoring two of their own. Tyler Wilschetz reached on an error and scored on a Ralph Dieguez RBI double. Alex Jahn then brought in Dieguez with a single drawing the Eagles within one.
Southern scored the game winner in the seventh with a sacrifice fly from Greg Malen, scoring Schlitter and extending the lead to 4-2.
With one last opportunity to win the game in the ninth, Jose Reyes singled and advanced to second on a Dan Luisi single. Brendan Barry picked up an RBI as Reyes scored, but it would not be enough as the Eagles fell 4-3.
Post University will be back in competition again at Philadelphia on Saturday.
