Eagle Softball Takes Two against Bridgeport

WATERBURY, Conn. (April 11, 2010) Post University's softball team took two games against Bridgeport Sunday afternoon improving their overall record to 13-19. The score in game one was 11-1, while it was a close 4-3 in game two.
In the first game, Post put a score on the board with a couple of errors by Bridgeport which put runners on base. Then with a squeeze bunt by Sam Pagano which scored the first run for the Eagles. Then with hits by
Tierney Marceau,
Emily Archer and
Ashley Cummings Post took the lead of 6-0.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Sam Pagano, Rice,
Amy Mantha,
Kim Bentson and
Emily Archer scored making the score 11-0.
In the top of the 5th inning, Ali Krolikowski started off with a solo homerun, but that would be the only run that Bridgeport will be able to score in the game resulting in a 11-1 Eagle victory.
In game two, Bridgeport scored three runs in the top of the second inning. Taylor McBeth got on base with a walk setting up a two run homer from Katie McMitchell. Nicole Steiner would also score in the inning after getting on base with a hit by pitch.
Down 3-0, the Eagles rallied in the bottom of the second when
Kim Bentson lead-off with a walk and scored on an Archer RBI double. Archer scored when
Christina Marino singled and Marino scored as well. The game winner was scored by
Lianna May when Mantha hit a fielder's choice. The Eagles would keep the purple knights scoreless through the rest of the game for a 4-3 win.
Post University will play again on Tuesday against Holy Family.
