Softball Sweeps Goldey Beacom 7-3, 2-1

WATERBURY, Conn (April 10, 2010) Post University's Softball team swept a conference doubleheader against Goldey Beacom on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took game one 7-3 and game two 2-1. Post University is now 9-5 in the CACC.

In the first game, two homeruns sealed the win for the Eagles. The first was in the opening inning when Emily Archer hit a grand slam scoring Amy Mantha, Sam Canning, and Tierney Marceau. Prior to the home run Cassidie Ern scored on a single from Marceau making it 5-0 Eagles. 

The second homerun was hit by Mantha in the second scoring Samantha Pagano who hit a double giving Post a 7-0 lead. Goldey Beacom scored once in the 4th and two runs in the 6th for a 7-3 final score.

In game two, it was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th when Christina Marino came into the game to pinch hit for Canning. Marino walked and scored when Marceau singled. 

Goldey Beacom tied the game in the 5th when Witzke scored on an error. The game winner was scored in the 7th inning by Ern who doubled to get on base. After Pagano reached with a bunt, Mantha walked and Canning was hit by a pitch winning the game 2-1.

The Eagles will be in action again Sunday against Bridgeport.
