Post Softball Sweeps Chestnut Hill in Double Header

WATERBURY, Conn. (March 27, 2010) The Post University Eagles sweeps Chestnut Hill College Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field in Waterbury.  Post won game one with a score of 10-1, where the score of game two was 11-0.

In the first game, Post started off with 3 runs in the first inning. Chestnut Hill responded with 1 run in the second inning with a sacrifice fly ball to left field by Allie Schempp, which resulted to be their only run of the game.

In the fourth inning, with the bases loaded, Sam Canning hit a single that scored 2 runs. Then with two people on base Tierney Marceau hit a homerun, followed by a solo homerun by Emily ArcherLindsey Heiser had two strike outs in game one for Post and Cassie Benson had one strike out.

In the second game, Post scored first in the bottom of the first inning singles were hit by Sam Canning and Kim Bentson which scored Cassidie Ern and Amy Mantha. Then May hit a double that scored 3 runs.

In the bottom of the second inning, Sam Canning hit a grand slam. In the bottom of the third inning, Amy Mantha hit a double to left field, scoring Cassidie Ern. Kim Bentson hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Giana Cavallo had the lone hit for Chestnut Hill.  Stephanie Carrillo had 4 strike outs in game two, while Kayla Shoap and Veronica Wilenta each had two strike out on the game.

The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Bentley.
