Softball Takes Two Games at Felician

RUTHERFORTH, NJ (March 25, 2010) Post University's Softball team took two games at Felician on Thursday afternoon. The 7-6 and 5-4 victories improve the Eagles to 3-1 in conference play in the young season.

In game one, the Eagles took the lead in the top of the first inning. Sam Pagano singled, then stole second, and scored when Sam Canning doubled down the left field line. Canning then scored off a Marceau double making it 2-0 Post University.

From that point on, Felician took control of the game and led 6-2 going into the 7th inning. Kim Bentson lead-off the inning with a solo homerun to right field. Ashley Cummings pinch hit for Stephanie Carrillo and walked, advancing to second when Johana Rice singled. 

When Pagano came to bat, she hit an RBI single scoring Cummings making it 6-4. Amy Mantha hit a sacrifice RBI giving the Eagles two outs, but scoring Rice. When Marceau came to bat, she doubled to right field scoring two runs in Canning and Pagano giving Post University the 7-6 win.

In the second game, it was Felician that jumped to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. The Eagles scored one in the second when Canning walked, advanced to second on a Marceau sacrifice, and scored after two errors.

With the game tied at two heading into the 4th inning, the Eagles took control once again this time scoring four runs. It was another lead-off homerun by Marceau followed by a single from Emily Archer, Bentson, and May who reached on an error.


Archer eventually scored after a pair of errors. When Pagano doubled to left field, she scored two runs in May and Bentson. The Eagles took the second game 5-4.

Post University will be back in action again on Saturday at home against Chestnut Hill.
