Baseball Sweeps Bloomfield in Conference Double Header

BLOOMFIELD, NJ (March 24, 2010) Post University's Baseball team swept a conference double header on Wednesday afternoon against Bloomfield 13-7 and 3-1. The Eagles now improve to 3-1 in conference play and 9-9 overall.
In game one after a scoreless first inning, the flood gates opened for the Eagles. In the top of the 2nd, 
Brendan Barry grabbed one of his three RBIs scoring 
Ralph Dieguez who walked to lead-off the inning. 
Jose Reyes singled scoring 
Harold Mejia making it 2-0 Post University.
Bloomfield countered that with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning when Alex Sepulveda and Christian Rosa singled scoring one run each. 
In the top of the 3rd, 
Travis Locascio hit a lead-off homer followed by a 
Doug Wells single and a Barry double. 
Todd Blair came to the plate hitting a RBI single scoring Wells. 
Bloomfield scored one run in the bottom of the inning, but the Eagles attacked once again in the 4th. This time it was Mejia and Wells picking up the RBIs scoring Locascio and Dieguez respectively. 
The 5th inning was silent for both teams until Post University brought in four runs in the top of the 6th. After a Bloomfield pitching change putting Matthew Synder on the mound, 
Tyler Wilschetz doubled to lead-off the inning. Wilschetz moved to third when Locascio hit a fly ball to centerfield. When the Bloomfield third baseman made an error, Wilschetz scored.
Another error in the inning would allow Dieguez to score once again. Barry singled scoring Mejia, while Blair hit a sacrifice RBI to score Wells making it 10-3 Eagles.
Post University scored two more in the 7th, when Mejia reached on a fielder's choice scoring Wilschetz and Wells brought in Locascio with a single. The Deacons scored three in the bottom of the inning to make it 12-6. 
Both clubs would score one more in the 9th and once again it was Barry who created the magic for the Eagles with a double scoring 
Jared Maddox. Post University took game one 13-7.
In the second game, the bats were not as active as they were in the first matchup. Post University scored one run in the 2nd when Mejia singled scoring Locascio who lead-off with a walk.
The winning run was scored in the 4th inning when Dieguez homered making it 2-0. Barry then hit a single, moved to second on a Sirko sacrifice, and scored when Blair singled giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Bloomfield scored one run in the 6th inning on a wild pitch. In the end the Eagles took game two 3-1.
Post University will be in action again on Friday on the road against Stonehill.
