Eagles Baseball Splits a Pair at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Both Post and Pfeiffer brought the heavy artillery on Saturday afternoon as each team scored a decisive victory splitting a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field. Winning the opener 17-8, the Eagles moved to 5-8 on the year while the Falcons, notching a 16-3 win in the nightcap, advance to 13-15 on the season.
GAME ONE: Post 17, Pfeiffer 8
Each team traded a pair of runs early as Pfeiffer used RBI-singles from Will Davis (New London, NC) and Eric Shoemaker (Huntersville, NC) in the first, while Post used a run-scoring single by
Jose Reyes (Yonkers, NY) and groundout by
Todd Blair (Ajax, ONTARIO) in the third. Post would score in every frame from the third on beginning with six in the fourth.
Ralph Diegeuz (Miami, FL) began with a solo shot to right-center before
Jared Maddox (Arlington, TX) drew a bases-loaded walk. Blair later came up with the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run single to center. Herold Mejia (Miami, FL) and
Doug Wells (Staten Island, NY) had the other RBI in the frame. Mejia delivered again in the fifth with a two-run single to left while Maddox and Reyes each tallied another RBI with singles in the Post sixth.
A five-run seventh for the Falcons saw Jesse Dunn (Easley, SC) register a two-run single to left in front of a pair of RBI-singles by Davis and Shoemaker. Mejia would grab his fourth RBI in the eighth while Wells helped end it with a one-out sacrifice fly.
GAME TWO: Pfeiffer 16, Post 3 The Falcons scored three in the second to snag a two-run lead on a Shoemaker two-run blast to center after a throwing error by the Eagles. Post tied it in the third with an RBI double from
Travis Locascio (Massapequa, NY) and RBI-single from Blair, before Pfeiffer went on to score a dozen more runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
Myles Pearl (High Point, NC) and Zack Pou (Stanley, NC) each had run-scoring singles in the fourth while five different Falcons notched RBI in the seven-run fifth with two runs scoring on another Post error.
Scoring for the afternoon wrapped up in the sixth on a solo dinger by Dunn, pinch-hit RBI-double by Hunter Boehme (Winston-Salem, NC) and groundout off the bat of Preston Lyon (Gastonia, NC).
The Eagles will be in action again on Friday beginning at 3pm for the first home game of the season.
