DOMINICAN, NY (February 18, 2010) The Post University Eagles Men's Basketball team defeated the Chargers of Dominican College 81-74 Thursday night at the Hennessy Center. The Eagles improve to 10-15 (6-8 CACC) on the season while the Chargers drop to 12-15 (8-8 CACC).

The Chargers led early, running out to a 6-0 lead. The Eagles would respond, however, with 14 unanswered points, capped off by a steal by Spencer Smith (15 points, 5 rebounds) which he turned into an old fashioned 3-point play. The Eagles stretched the lead into 13 by the end of the half, as the first period closed with a score of 47-34.

The second half saw the Eagles lead slowly vanish until the Chargers' Gerald Hill (9 points, 3 rebounds) hit a 3-pointer with 13:15 remaining to tie the game at 53-53. About two-and-a-half minutes later, however, Nyheem Sanders (22 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists) fed Garvin McAlister (5 points, 3 assists), who knocked down a 3 to give the Eagles back the lead, which they wouldn't relinquish for the remainder of the contest.

Also scoring in double digits for the Eagles were Trevon Hamlet (20 points) and Rashamell Vereen (10 points), while the Chargers' Leon Porter led the way with 15.

The Eagles are back in action this Saturday as they play host to Philadelphia University. Tip-off is slated for 3:00pm.
