Tonight; Eagles Host Basketball Doubleheader Against Felician
WATERBURY, Conn (January 28, 2010) Post University's Men's and Women's Basketball teams will host Felician College tonight at the Drubner Center in a CACC matchup. The women's game begins at 6pm with the Men's game to follow at 8pm.
Men's Basketball:
Post University's Men's Basketball team is coming off a 105-99 loss against top tanked Bloomfield on Tuesday night. In the game, junior Spencer Smith netted a game-high 24 points. In addition, five players scored in double digits. Nyheem Sanders nearly had a triple double with 14 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. Jon Lucky had a double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
In the second half of Tuesday's game, the Eagles shot an impressive 67.6 percent from the floor.
At this point in the season the Eagles have four players averaging over 10 points per game including Trevon Hamlet, Lucky, Sanders, and Smith.
Scouting Felician:
Felician has a powerful offense led by Devon Young scoring 16.2 points per game. Antoine Obery adds 14.5 points per game along with 9.9 rebounds. The Golden Falcons are on a three game winning streak including a 79-60 home win on Tuesday against Nyack.
The Eagles and the Golden Falcons met earlier this season on December 10th with Felician scoring an 80-77 point win. Tonight, the Eagles would like to avenge that loss and their first round conference loss against Felician at the Drubner Center one year ago.
Women's Basketball:
Post University's Women's Basketball has seen a new face emerge as a scoring threat on the court. In the last two conference games against Chestnut Hill and Bloomfield, sophomore Monique Chance has averaged 14 points per game.
In the game against Bloomfield, Chance along with Aubrey Latham and Mallorie Michalak scored in double digits. Latham added nine rebounds.
With Latham's 22 points against Bloomfield, she has now scored a team-leading 206 points this season in addition to leading the team in rebounding with 102.
In a meeting on December 10th between these two teams earlier this season, Latham led the Eagles with 15 points as Felician picked up a 69-43 win.
Scouting Felician:
Felician's offense is centered on the success of Janelle Biamonte and Quay Baskerville who score 14.4 and 14.1 points respectively. Baskerville was able to score 26 points against the Eagles in their previous meeting. Last time out, the Golden Falcons snapped a three game slide at home Tuesday against Nyack winning 72-63.
