Blake and Wanklyn Named to the Ping East All Region Team
NORMAN, Okla. - The Division II PING All-America Teams have been announced by the GCAA (Golf Coaches of America Association). Two of Post's golfers, Jamie Blake and Lee Wanklyn were recognized in the East region.
"Jamie Blake played consistent through the Fall and into the Spring," said Eagles Head Coach Pete Stevens. "It is a well deserved honor for him considering he was ranked #2 in the East Region."
Throughout the 2008-2009 season Blake and Wanklyn played in Post's #1 and #2 positions respectively. At the 2009 NCAA Superregional Tournament Blake placed 15th only seven strokes out of the lead.
For the past 4 seasons, Post has dominated in conference play with 4 consecutive championships. This year, Post set a record low score (568) and defeated the competition by 28 strokes. As a senior, Blake has been a part of the conference championship winning team throughout his collegiate career.
Wanklyn played well throughout the season earning player of the week accolades in the CACC, as well as leading the team at the Peter King Memorial shooting a pair of 75's. Wanklyn will be back again next season as the team's only senior.
"Lee started slow but, he came on strong in the Spring," said Stevens. "He was a mainstay in our lineup this season."
Post's Golf program was one of the top ranked teams in the East Region throughout the 2008-2009 season. The Eagles were recognized for their success by being invited to compete at prestigious courses throughout the country including Mission Viejo in San Diego, CA. The Mission Viejo course has played host to several PGA events.
