Softball Goes 1-1 Against Mercy

WATERBURY, CT – Post Softball split a doubleheader against Mercy Tuesday in a non-conference matchup. The games move Post to 18-12 on the season.

In game one the Eagles fell 5-4, with Stephanie Carrillo pitching. After 2 innings, Mercy led 3-0.
Post scored once in the 2nd when Kim Bentson reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Casside Ern picked up the RBI as Bentson scored the first run for the Eagles making it 3-1.

In the 4th, Ern scored off of a Nicole Gizzi* double. In the 5th Samantha Canning scored on a sacrifice fly hit to left field by Amy Mantha. In the 6th Bentson scored the teams final run when Amanda Prince reached on an error. 

Post would loss game one after putting together 8 hits and having 2 errors.

In game two, Post saw a reversal of fortune as the Eagles won 3-2. 

The Eagles scored all 3 runs in the 3rd inning. Canning doubled with one out and Lindsay Heiser reached on an error by the shortstop. Carrillo came up to bat and singled scoring Canning.

When Archer singled, she picked up a RBI scoring Chadwick who was pinch running for Hesier. On the next play Bentson hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring the winning run in Carrillo. Post held on to win 3-2.

The Eagles Softball team will play again on Wednesday at the University of Bridgeport.
