Eagles Softball Defeats Goldey Beacom in Double Header

WATERBURY, CT – The Post University Softball team defeated CACC conference foe Goldey Beacom in a double header Saturday 4-1, and 3-0. The win moves Post to 5-4 in the CACC.

Stephanie Carrillo is credited for the win in both contests and continues to have a great season as the Eagles star pitcher.

In the first game it was scoreless most of the way, until Goldey Beacom scored in the 5th inning. Post would then go on a tear scoring their 4 runs in the bottom of the same inning. It all started when Kim Bentson singled. Emily Archer hit a sacrifice bunt down the third baseline and was thrown out at first as Bentson advanced to second. Nicole Gizzi* singled, advancing Bentson to third.

On a passed ball Gizzi made it to third and Bentson scored. Amanda Price walked and Samantha Canning singled scored Gizzi. Next it was Cassidie Ern who also hit a single scoring Prince. Carrillo reached on an error by the second baseman brining in Canning.

When all was said and done Post had a 4-1 lead that they would maintain for the win.

In game two with Carrillo pitching once again, the Eagles held Goldey Beacom scoreless. This time all of the magic came in the 4th inning.

Carrillo lead off the inning with a walk followed by a sacrifice bunt by Mantha. Ern then singled scoring Carrillo. Nicole Gizzi* came up and double which set up Linday Hesier. Heiser double as well scoring two runs with the hit as both Gizzi and Ern rounded the bases.

With that, Post was able to grab their second win of the day, 3-0, and their fifth conference win of the season.
