WILMINGTON, DE – The Post University softball team fell to the Wilmington Wildcats Tuesday 7-1 and 4-2. The games were the 3rd and 4th conference games of the season for the Eagles.
Game One Box Score
In game one, Wilmington put the game away early scoring the eventual winner in the first inning. Lindsay Watson scored the game winner after
Stephanie Carrillo walked Kristen Tomlinson.
The Eagles sole run came in the 6th inning. Carrillo walked to lead off the inning. With
Samantha Pagano,
Samantha Canning, and Carrillo on the bases, Carrillo scored following a throwing error by the Wilmington shortstop Lindsay Fyre.
Box Score Game 2
Game two was a bit more tightly contested than game one with Wilmington winning 4-2.
Lindsay Heiser took the helm for the Eagles on the mound. The Wildcats scored 3 runs off of 3 hits in the second inning to go up 3-0, and would score another in the 3rd to give themselves a 4 run lead.
Post would rally in the 4th inning as
Amy Mantha singled through the left side and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Kim Bentson singled to right field as Mantha advanced to third. A wild pitch would put Bentson on second scoring Mantha on the play.
Emily Archer singled up the middle scoring Bentson making it 4-2.
That would be as close as the Eagles could get to Wilmington dropping game 2 by 4-2.
Post will be in action again on Thursday afternoon on the Post University campus at Lamoy Field. Game times are set for 3pm and 5pm against Felician.
