Spending a lot of time with my teammates keeps me motivated as well as practicing hard this offseason and lifting in the gym to help me stay prepared for the upcoming season".
Before college, Roman attended Francis T. Maloney High School in Meriden, Connecticut, where he was a three-time captain of the lacrosse team and his name is permanently etched into Maloney High School history as the all-time points leader. Reflecting on his time representing Team Puerto Rico, Roman said, "It was an awesome experience, and it does not get much better than representing your country on the National stage. I just hope to inspire a lot of kids from Puerto Rico to start picking up lacrosse since it is not too big of a sport there".
Speaking on how he got this opportunity and what it took to get there, Roman said, "They had open tryouts, and you have to be of Puerto Rican descent. My grandparents were born on the island, so I qualified, and I went and tried out and ended up making the team". Puerto Rico ended up finishing in 6th place at the World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in Korea this past August of 2025. This was Puerto Rico's best-ever finish within the top ten.
