FLUSHING, N.Y. -- Returning to the ITA Regional this year, all six players for Post University Women's Tennis were in action in the late morning and early afternoon on Friday with junior Ana Vasilis being the lone Eagle to continue into day two for the Women's Open Singles Tournament, while a pair of Doubles duos for Post are still set to get underway tomorrow. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Vasilis, along with sophomores Laura Kotala and Julie Merline, and freshmen Vitalina Sokoliuk and Savannah Croft, all got through the Round of 128 via byes, while senior Gioia Turco faced Chestnut Hill's Lilly Bandel in the Round of 128. Turco would fall in straight 6-0 sets to get eliminated, while four other Eagles would join her with losses in the Round of 64. Sokoliuk was taken down by another Griffin in Elena Guisasola Arenas, 6-4 and 6-0, while Kotala suffered a straight 6-0 sweep at the hands of Adelphi University's Oda Solevag Halvorsen. Another conference matchup in Merlin against Wilmington University's Ming Fu Chen ended in a 6-4 and 6-0 defeat, while Croft's 6-0 and 6-1 loss came at the hands of Sofiia Sharparenko of the University of the District of Columbia. 

Meanwhile, Vasilis will see her journey continue into Saturday after taking down Emma Gredenhag of Saint Michael's College in the Round of 64, 6-3 and 6-1, and will face Ela Vasic from Queens College in the Round of 32. Vasilis is also slated to eventually play with Merlin in the Women's Open Doubles against Xu Jedidah and Annabelle Aldrete from the Purple Knights, as well as having a bye in the Round of 64. Croft and Turco are also set to compete in the Round of 32 after their bye, taking on Polina Zelentsova and Celia Bastin from the University of the District of Columbia. 

The only Doubles duo from Post to play on Friday was Kotala and Sokoliuk, who fell in the Round of 64 to Saint Michael's Lucy McPherson and Gredenhag, 8-5.
