. – Post University Women's Tennis opened its 2026-27 season at home on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Wilmington University in its first match of the season. The Eagles would fall to the Wildcats, 0-7, to begin the new campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Wilmington University opened the afternoon by taking the first two Doubles matches. In #2 Doubles, Ines Oliveira and Siana MacDonald defeated junior Julie Merlin and junior Savannah Croft, 6-2. The Wildcats then clinched the doubles point at #3 Doubles, as Leandra Schierl and Elena Camacho defeated junior Laura Kotala and freshman Bintu Drame, 6-2. Post closed out the Doubles competition with a win at #1 Doubles, where senior Ana Vasilis and freshman Juana Espana defeated Claire Traimeau and Nia Lewis, 7-5.
The Wildcats would go on to sweep all six Singles matches, with Elena Camacho getting Wilmington on the board first at #4 Singles, defeating junior Laura Kotala, 6-1 and 6-0. At #1 Singles, Claire Traimeau followed with a 6-2 and 6-0 victory over senior Ana Vasilis.
Leandra Schierl then defeated junior Julie Merlin at #3 Singles, 6-2 and 6-3, before Siana MacDonald secured the match at #2 Singles with a 6-1 and 6-2 win over freshman Juana Espana. Wilmington would finish off the Singles sweep with Anna Marry defeating junior Savannah Croft, 6-1 and 6-2, at #5 Singles, while Meanna Lenngren closed out the afternoon at #6 Singles with a 6-2 and 6-1 victory over freshman Bintu Drame, giving the Wildcats the 7-0 win.
WHO'S NEXT
Post University will have a busy week ahead, with the Eagles set to compete in three matches over the span of five days. Post will return home on Tuesday, Sept. 15, hosting Queens College at 3:00 p.m. at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club in a CACC matchup.
The Eagles will remain home on Thursday, Sept. 17, welcoming St. Thomas Aquinas College for a 4:00 p.m. conference matchup. Post will then hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 19, traveling to Washington, D.C., to take on the University of the District of Columbia at 1:30 p.m.
