WATERBURY, Conn. -- Nearly identical to last year has placed Post University Women's Tennis placed fifth for this season's Preseason Coaches' Poll released by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on Thursday afternoon, with the Eagles earning 10 points, one less than last year, as announced by the league office.
The only flip in the six-team standings would be Goldey-Beacom College taking sole possession of third place with 17 points, just two points ahead of Chestnut Hill College in fourth place. Last year, the Lightning and Griffins tied with 16 points each while Chestnut Hill garnered one first-place vote. After earning one first-place vote last year, the Eagles had none this season in their fifth-place polling, while Dominican (N.Y.) rounded things out with five points like last year.
Also, like last year, Wilmington University was picked to win the conference with 24 points and four first-place votes, followed by Jefferson University in second place with 19 points and two first-place votes.
The only two returning players for Post will be sophomore
Julie Merlin and senior
Gioia Turco, as Head Coach
Rob Howard brings in four new players for the 2025 season after the team lost
Nina Langenfeld and
Megan Lombardt to graduation, along with a trio of players to transferred out.Â
The Eagles get underway with three consecutive home games to start the season at the Edgewood Bath & Tennis Club as they welcome Assumption University on Wednesday, September 10th at 3:00 PM, followed by Chestnut Hill College on September 13th at 1:00 PM for their first conference match of the year.Â
