Football Picked to Finish Eighth in Northeast-10 Coaches' Poll

WATERBURY, Conn. -- With their 2025 opener looming just over two weeks away, Post University Football was picked to finish eighth in the Northeast-10 Football Coaches' Poll released by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The Eagles finished ninth last season with a 1-9 record, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan College in their first game of the season, which also marked the first win at home in Municipal Stadium in the program's history. Post starts their 2025 season on August 30th at 1:00 PM against that same West Virginia Wesleyan College team at Municipal Stadium. Those who plan on attending will need to pay a $10 parking fee in order to attend the game; admission fee will be waived for those Post University students, faculty, and staff who have their Post ID present.

With the departure of the University of New Haven to the Division I level, only eight teams remain in the Northeast-10 for football, as Bentley University was picked to win the conference title with 43 points and four first-place votes. Saint Anselm College narrowly sat behind the Falcons in second place with 40 points and two first-place votes, while the final two first-place votes went to Assumption University in a third-place tie with Franklin Pierce University at 38 points. Round out the bottom half of the conference poll, Southern Connecticut State University and AIC were picked to finish fifth and sixth with 21 and 19 points, respectively, and then Pace University in seventh with 15 points, followed by Post in last with 10 points.

Head Coach Adam Schultz enters his fourth season in charge of the program, which, despite going 1-9 for the second straight year, showed signs of growth after starting the year 1-0 before finishing with nine consecutive losses and an 0-8 record in conference play. Of those nine losses, four of them were by four points or less, three of which were conference games, which was an improvement from 2023, when all nine losses were by double-digit margins.

As a team, the Eagles averaged 22.30 points per game while allowing 39.20 points per game defensively. In eight of their 10 games last season, Post eclipsed the 20-point mark while only scoring a single touchdown in the other two games they failed to reach 20 points. On the defensive side of the ball, the fewest points they held their opponents to was 23 points against Pace University on September 21st in a 23-21 home loss to the Setters, which coincided with the start of conference play. The Eagles endured a five-game stretch in which they allowed opponents to score 50-plus points in four of those games, including three consecutive games towards the end of the season.

Boasting a schedule that features six home games, the Eagles will play three of their first four regular-season games at Municipal Stadium, starting with two non-conference games against West Virginia Wesleyan College, followed by Southern Connecticut State University, before hitting the road to play Pace University. The remaining four home games will all be against conference opponents with matchups with the first one against Saint Anselm College counting towards their Northeast-10 record along with games versus Assumption University, Franklin Pierce University, and a second matchup against the Hawks, which will not count towards their conference record, as New Haven's leaving the NE10 opened up a date on the football calendar for the fall.

October 18th's matchup with Franklin Pierce will be played in tandem with Post University's Homecoming weekend, while November 8th against Saint Anselm will be Senior Day at Municipal Stadium.
