WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second time in three seasons and third time overall, Post University Women's Tennis earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award along with landing players on the ITA Scholar Athletes list, this year featuring four players in seniors
Megan Lombardt and
Nina Langenfeld, along with junior
Gioia Turco, and freshman
Julie Merlin as announced by the organization late last week.
The Eagles are coming off their third consecutive season in which they won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Team GPA Award, with a cumulative 3.93 GPA for the 2024-25 academic year under Head Coach
Rob Howard, who just completed his 17th season at the helm of the program.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
In all, 705 Division II women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 104 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
