In this episode, Athletic Communications Spring Intern Dani Rovalino talks with senior guard Naj White from Post University Women's Basketball about her experience transferring to Post, her historic performance against the University of New Haven during the season, and welcoming Team IMPACT's Maddie to the program.
WATERBURY, Conn. -- Senior guard
Naj White from the Post University Women's Basketball team, has grown accustomed to being an Eagle since her transfer from Mitchell College, just over two years ago. A short one semester stint at Mitchell, brought in by Head Coach
Courtney Burns, was an opportunity to get her basketball blood flowing again. After a successful season with Burns at the helm leading the Mariners to the conference championship, White decided to join Burns at Post after she was named the Women's Basketball Coach in June 2023.
Transferring from Division III to a Division II school brings a lot of factors, including bigger competition and expectations. White has risen to the occasion noticing the rise in quality and competition, while also trying to fill her footing here at Post. In her first year she averaged 8.4 points per game, improving that mark to 12.8 points per game in her second and final season with the squad.Â
A career-high game against University of New Haven, where White scored 37 points, ranked the third-highest in a single game in program history, while also reaching the single-game field goal record with 16 made shots from the floor.Â
A highlight of individual greatness, White was honored for the first time in program history as the CACC Student-Athlete of the Month in December 2024. That month, White averaged 11.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game in the six games the Eagles played. Not only did she perform on the court, but off the court she dedicated countless hours to the team impact signee, Maddie. She has participated in many team activities with Maddie, but Maddie is the core of the team, uplifting and loving them whenever they need it as White explains when talking about what Team IMPACT means to the program.
