WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the first time since the 2023 season, Post University Women's Tennis landed players on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's All-Conference Team as both junior
Ana Vasilis and sophomore
Julie Merlin were named All-Conference Second Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday morning.
Merlin and Vasilis become the first players since Annuciata De-Souza was named CACC All-Conference First Team in 2023 to land on an All-Conference Team in general, but their appearance marks the first time since 2018 in which Post has had two All-Conference selections in the same season, when Areej Fareh and Dea Lako were both named to the Second Team.Â
Merlin finished the season with a 6-7 record overall in Singles with a 4-6 finish in conference play, spending time across the first, second, and third slots. The sophomore finished 2-11 in Doubles play, spending time playing alongside Vasilis, freshman
Savannah Croft, and sophomore
Laura Kotala. As for Vasilis, while she missed the last several matches of the season, she closed at 3-4 overall in Singles entirely in the #1 Singles slot, while going 3-4 in Doubles as well. Vasilis played with Merlin and Sokoliuk during her Doubles matches as well as made a run to the Round of 16 in the ITA Regional Singles last month.Â
The Eagles closed the season on Wednesday afternoon at home against Dominican (N.Y.), falling to the Lady Chargers, 4-3, and ending the season 0-13.Â
