In First Year as Part of Northeast-10, Football Picked to Finish Ninth in Preseason Poll

WATERBURY, Conn. -- Just 18 days stand between Post University Football and their first season as part of the Northeast-10 Conference as the Eagles are slowly returning to campus in preparation for their August 31st home opener against West Virginia Wesleyan College at Municipal Stadium slated for kickoff at 1:00 PM. Those who plan on attending will need to pay a $10 parking fee in order to attend the game, admission fee will be waived for those Post University students, faculty, and staff who have their Post ID present.

In the newly released NE10 Preseason Coaches Poll, Post University was picked to finish ninth with 11 total points while American International College (AIC) was just ahead of them in eighth place at 13 points. Reigning NE10 Conference Champions, the University of New Haven, who went 8-2 in the regular season last year and 6-1 in conference play, were picked to repeat as conference champions with 64 points and eight of a possible nine first-place votes. The other first-place vote went to Assumption University, who finished with 48 total points in third place, narrowly behind a second-place finish for Bentley University at 55 points with no first-place votes.

Head Coach Adam Schultz will continue to lead the Eagles at the helm of the program which started up three years ago now, looking to build off of the positive momentum the team had during last season. After the varsity program started off on a 16-game losing streak dating back to 2022, Post got their first win in a rainy day road win over fellow NE10 opponent, Franklin Pierce University, who is picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll with 32 points, 16-13.

While the Eagles ultimately went 1-9 last year, they routinely found themselves competing with their opponent in the first couple of quarters in each game before halftime adjustments were made, being within a couple of scores heading into the break. However, offensively they would struggle to find their rhythm at times, scoring just 16.2 points per game while allowing 30-plus points defensively in all but one game last year which was their win against the Ravens on October 21st, leading to a 42.2 points per game allowed average.

Post will face West Virginia Wesleyan College on August 31st followed by a road matchup on September 14th against Lake Erie before jumping into their entire eight-game conference slate the rest of the way. The first home NE10 game will be on September 21st at 1:00 PM against Pace University before Homecoming Weekend is the next home game after that on October 12th at 12:00 PM against Southern Connecticut State University. Bentley University and AIC round out the home schedule on October 26th and November 9th respectively, with both of those games kicking off at 1:00 PM as well from Municipal Stadium.
