WATERBURY, Conn. -- As the fall season looms closer, so does the 2024-25 Post University Men's Golf season. However, the Eagles continue to bring in awards from one of their most successful years in recent memory, as they were recipients of the GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award, finishing with the Presidents' Special Recognition as announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Out of all the NCAA Division II teams, Maryville University was the 2023-24 Academic National Champion after finishing with a team GPA of 3.819 on the year. Post was one of 22 Division II teams to earn the Presidents' Special Recognition which requires a team to finish with a grade point average above 3.5, the Eagles as a team netted a cumulative GPA of 3.59 to make that list.
In all, 48 teams in Division II earned the GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award with 25 more being named to the All-Academic Team for having a cumulative GPA above a 3.0 for the 2023-24 academic year.
For the Eagles, this is the first recorded time in program history in which they have earned the GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award and they were one of only three total East Region teams to do so. The other two recipients also earned Presidents' Special Recognition in Bentley University from the Northeast 10 and fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member, Felician University.
